What a great article over at Freelance Folder on the 3 Lessons Children Can Learn From a Freelancing Parent! It’s always nice to read articles about the social and financial benefits of freelancing and being your own boss. It is even better to be reminded of how freelancing allows for more the important aspects of life. I agree that your job should be something that you are passionate about. Having quality time with your family is what we should all be striving for….but having the time to be with your family, and also having time to get your freelance work completed would be a tremendous blessing. Of course it comes with sacrifices like you mentioned, but we are called to raise our children up in Godly homes (Prov. 22:6, Prov. 4:1-17, Prov. 20:6-23, Prov. 3:1-12)…and to do that…WE HAVE TO BE THERE! While there are great people all around us, we can’t place that sole responsibility in someone else’s hand. Freelancing allows for that quality time you need in order to do that.
While my wife and I have not been blessed with children yet, what a great post to consider as we one day make the transition into parenthood.
