Button Bird Designs – Blogger to WordPress Migration

We really enjoyed working with Angela from ButtonBirdDesigns.com. Angela loves to incorporate just about anything into her artwork. Ranging from recycled materials, vintage items, wood, jewelry, other people’s junk, buttons and fabric, her style is fun and diverse. You can find her smiling at any yard sale, thrift store or flea market.

She approached us a few weeks ago wanting to make the move from Blogger to WordPress. She already had a great blog design (designed by Angie in the Thick of It) for her site but needed that flexibility that WordPress provides.

So…we migrated her custom blogger design into a custom WordPress theme and moved all of her content, posts, comments, etc., over to the WordPress platform.

Perfectly Imperfect Launches New Design

Evenpar Solutions was proud to team up with Lindsay of ChenaDesign to design and build another custom WordPress theme for the very popular blog, Perfectly Imperfect Blog.

We’ve been working with Shaunna West of Perfectly Imperfect Blog, for a little over a year and half. It started with a fresh design and move from Blogger to WordPress about a year ago and we are now proud to announce the fresh new look we launched just a few days ago.

Bahia Akerle approached us (Evenpar Solutions and ChenaDesign) a few months ago with a design project for her new business in Silver Spring, MD, On The Purple Couch. On The Purple Couch is a new consignment store in the heart of downtown the Silver Spring, Maryland area. Making Money Online

One of the biggest questions we have been asked lately with all of the Blogger to WordPress conversion work is “How can I use my site to make money online like all of the others?”

Whew. That’s a hard question to answer…mainly because we’re not in the blogging trenches everyday. We don’t rely on our blog here at Evenpar Solutions to drive monthly revenue…although that would be nice. We use our blog to share interesting tidbits, tutorials, and news for viewers of our site.

In this video on Secrets to Making Money Online, ProBlogger Daren Rowse shares some great ideas on how to make money online.

Adding Your Own Custom Avatar to WordPress

Have you ever wanted to replace the “Blank Man” or the default Gravatar avatar in the comments section of your WordPress site with your own branded avatar? Here’s the code you’ll need to put in your theme’s functions.php file to get this done:

add_filter( 'avatar_defaults', 'newgravatar' );

function newgravatar ($avatar_defaults) { $myavatar = get_bloginfo('template_directory') . '/images/avatarimage.jpg'; $avatar_defaults[$myavatar] = "Custom Brand Name Here"; return $avatar_defaults; }

Of course you should change the “avatarimage.jpg” to whatever you would like and the “Custom Brand Name Here” to whatever you want to show up in the Avatar section on the Discussions page.

The only thing left to do is to switch your avatar settings on the Discussions page. This will allow anyone with avatars setup at different places like Gravatar to show their own avatar…however if a user doesn’t have one, then the code above will set theirs to the default until they create their own.
