We recently worked with the Little Sisters of the Poor (the Bronx, New York province) to create an online presence for one of the newest Little Sisters of the Poor locations. The Little Sisters of the Poor are religious women, members of an International Congregation, who have dedicated their lives to the service of the elderly. The Little Sisters of the Poor is a Roman Catholic religious order for women. It was founded in the 19th century by Jeanne Jugan near Rennes, France. Jugan felt the need to care for the many impoverished elderly who lined the streets of French towns and cities.
According to the Little Sisters of the Poor main organization website,
The care of the dying has always been the summit of our apostolate and it is an ever more powerful witness of the culture of life. By the look in his eyes or by the silence of his whole being, the elderly person who is near death asks us this question: “Does my life still have any value? Is it worth living?” To each person we respond with a resounding yes!
